Récital d’Orgue : Thierry Escaich

This program starts with a major work by Bach, the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, which takes the form of baroque exuberance in its first part to give way, in the particularly expressive fugue, to one of the most dense and structured pages of the Cantor of Leipzig.

This duality is found in Brahms' Prelude and Fugue which also presages the deep and tenderly nostalgic lyricism of the author of the German Requiem much later.

There is no longer any question of measured lyricism in Tchaikovsky, however, whose this Fantasy-Overture is one of the most incandescent pages.

A wholly operatic dramaturgy unfolds and alternates fury, excess of feelings, anxiety, suspension of time: in short, it is a condensed exploration of the Russian soul.

At the end of the concert, we will remain in the fullness of this orchestral organ which will musically restore four major pictorial works inspired by four different painters.
