To open the Festival Présences, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris hosts a programme devoted to meditation and creation.
Alongside iconic pages by Arvo Pärt, including the famous Magnificat and Annum per annum, the programme also features Gregorian plainchant as well as two world premieres by Philippe Hersant and Helena Tulve, leading figures of today's music.
Bringing together the voices of Vox Clamantis, the Maîtrise de Radio France and the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris around the cathedral's organs, this exceptional evening brings out the links between tradition and invention, in a place whose architecture and acoustics magnify the spiritual dimension of these works.
