Concertantes - Mozart, Ehwa Hong, Stravinsky

More than two hundred and fifty years after its conception, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Winds remains shrouded in mystery. The parts were lost when sent for copying, and the composer offered to rewrite them. However, no trace of such a manuscript exists, and it is not truly known where the score that "reappeared" at the end of the 19th century came from. The soloists of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris perform this version with flute, reconstructed by Robert Levin. Stravinsky also attributed the concertante form to one of his early works, Danses concertantes, completed on the North American continent. All sections of the orchestra are invited to join the dance, vying with mischievous solos of strong sonic identities. From Mozart to Stravinsky, a new work by Ehwa Hong, commissioned by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, explores cultural mirror games: otherness, influence, complementarity from one continent to another.
