Didier Malherbe & Raphaël Didjaman

« This concert celebrates the release (or the arrival) of the album Cheerful Pendulum (label Tribal Zik Records). Wood brings good luck, they say! It also brings music… with ancestral instruments celebrating the music born of wood. The Australian didgeridoo, made of eucalyptus wood (branches hollowed out by the appetite of termites); the Armenian doudouk, made of apricot wood and played with a double reed of cane; the Chinese bawu, a bamboo flute with a free reed. The khaen from Laos, a bamboo mouth organ; the cello (the neck, back and ribs in maple, the soundboard in spruce); the Indian Bayan tabla (in sheesham wood). These instruments are sometimes played over electronic sequences woven by Raphaël Didjaman. Good luck to the cheerful Pendulum!  » – Didier Malherbe
