In a few words
A Stravinsky evening where we are invited to do the "great split", as it involves delving into the mystery of Sophocles' tragedy revisited by Jean Cocteau, then being carried away by the orchestral surge of Le Sacre du Printemps. One musician and two works separated by nearly 40 years, which is to say two very distinct musical galaxies. The first claims an assumed "classicism" while the second bears traces of its "homeland" so present during Diaghilev's Ballets Russes period. A fascinating demonstration of Stravinsky's genius.
