Contributing to this are delightful music, sprinkled with caressing and delicate airs like the famous romance of Nemorino 'Una furtiva lagrima' which make it a masterpiece of bel canto.
Stage director Laurent Pelly transposes this melodramma giocoso into 1960s Italy, giving it an exhilarating scent of dolce vita.
