About — The theatre

The Opéra Bastille is located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, on the edge of Place de la Bastille. It is one of the capital's major lyrical venues, and one of the best-served addresses in this entire ranking.

The programming listed on this page requires careful reading. Classical and lyrical music constitutes the primary block of upcoming dates, but a significant portion of the events that our sources link to this address are classified as live performance — comedy, humour, contemporary theatre, dance, mixed formats. These classifications come from the ticketing feeds that supply us and do not necessarily reflect the institution's official season. In case of doubt about the nature of an evening, the show's description and official ticketing information are authoritative.

Access is immediate: Bastille station, where lines 1, 5, and 8 intersect, is a one-minute walk away. Bréguet-Sabin, on line 5, and Ledru-Rollin, on line 8, are seven minutes away. Three metro lines for a large-capacity venue offer real convenience on show nights.

The prices recorded cover the widest range of all the venues in this ranking: the floor is very accessible, and the ceiling reaches levels not found anywhere else among the venues studied. This is the hallmark of a ticketing system with numerous categories, where seating varies the price to a very large extent.

Some of the dates do not have prices in our data. The pricing grids for this type of establishment, organised by categories and subscription packages, are not systematically transmitted to us; the actual amount is available on the official ticketing website.

Finally, as with all predominantly lyrical venues, seasons are announced well in advance. The calendar on this page therefore often shows months already filled, which facilitates planning an outing long in advance.
