In a few words

One thing has always fascinated me about children: have you noticed their ability to bring together beings or places that are not meant to go together? It is precisely the encounter between disparate characters and opposing worlds that La Fille du Régiment tells. And despite its tagada tsoin tsoin appearance, the story carries us, almost without our noticing, from twists and dramatic turns towards complex subjects and varied emotions. But two countries are at war, foreshadowing an impossible love story between enemies. Yet, in our era, when we worry about wars across the world, when we play virtual war games, when we can buy toy soldiers at the supermarket, we cannot address this theme with our children as in 1840 — the year La Fille du Régiment was premiered, and when Napoleon I's remains were proudly brought back to the Invalides. So, making our way through this work, rich in unexpected resources, our interpretation hopes to offer you a moment that is funny, tender and powerful, accessible to all and very much of the moment. A collective and participatory experience, fuelled by the richness of children's perspective.
