In a few words
Created in 1735 in Venice's most prestigious theatre, La Griselda was a resounding success for Vivaldi. With this mature work, based on a libretto revised by the already highly skilled young Goldoni, Vivaldi triumphed with mezzo-soprano Anna Giro, his most celebrated interpreter of the time, and definitively conquered the Venetian elite. Around twenty years ago, Jean-Christophe Spinosi successfully unearthed this title with the help of a team that would mark the “Vivaldi revival” (Sonia Prina, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Philippe Jaroussky...). There is no doubt that the generation of singers present tonight alongside Julien Chauvin will also be able to restore all its brilliance to this Vivaldian gem.
