By putting a final point to the Ring Cycle with Twilight of the Gods, its most metaphysical installment, Richard Wagner delivers music as flamboyant as the pyre on which Brünnhilde immolates herself.
Emotion is not lacking, witness the funeral march of Siegfried, one of the most gripping orchestral passages in the score.
Created in 1876 at the first Bayreuth festival, the work is here given in the mise en scène by Calixto Bieito who also closes his reading of the Tetralogy for the Paris Opera, begun in 2025.
