Marc Berthoumieux en résidence artistique au CMA9

This season, the Conservatoire Nadia et Lili Boulanger welcomes accordionist, composer and arranger Marc Berthoumieux as artist in residence. Throughout the year, students and teachers will share with this major figure of contemporary French jazz a collective adventure centred on writing, improvisation and musical creation.

The Conservatoire Nadia et Lili Boulanger is delighted to welcome Marc Berthoumieux as artist in residence for the 2026-2027 season. A renowned accordionist, composer and arranger, he has spent more than thirty years developing a singular musical world where jazz, classical music, popular music and influences from around the world come together.

Run in partnership with Jean Ribeiro's accordion class and the jazz department coordinated by Pierre Carrié, this residency will offer students workshops, masterclasses, creative sessions and meetings with the artist.

Through the exploration of writing, arrangement and improvisation, participants will discover the different stages that take a musical idea to the stage. Particular attention will be paid to collective work, to listening, and to the richness of the accordion's timbres in dialogue with the other instruments.

At the end of the year, the students will share the stage at an exceptional concert devoted to a collective creation imagined and directed by Marc Berthoumieux
