Muette - Boris Charmatz, Chaillot Théâtre dNational de la Danse, Paris

Boris Charmatz Muette Muette, written and danced by Boris Charmatz, will not be a sequel to the solo Somnole, but an extension of his commitment as a performer. A piece whose minimalism serves as a manifesto. To be listened to and watched… in silence.

"It took me years to start choreographing solo, but I'm not going to stop there," Boris Charmatz confesses by way of introduction. So after Somnole, a piece about breath and skin, the choreographer presents Muette, "a dance of stupefaction, of silenced emotions".

Muette will be guided by "what doesn't happen, not even through the lips, what doesn't come out, what sometimes acts as a screen against expression and movement".

Boris Charmatz has accustomed us to exceeding expectations, daring to stage a piece in a cathedral, occupying a library, or taking over the Palais Garnier, always searching for how bodies resonate with the times.

A distinctive soloist, as shown by the duet A bras le corps, created with Dimitri Chamblas, which the pair still perform, Boris Charmatz turns Muette into a visceral gesture. " And he invites everyone to enter this other dimension, a choreography like a suspended moment in time.
