Naissance du Printemps - Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert

“Oh Mozart, immortal Mozart, how many benevolent premonitions of a luminous and better life you have imprinted on our souls!” Schubert confided these grateful words to his diary in June 1816. Three months later, he closed the manuscript of his Fifth Symphony, a sunny and vibrant work in which numerous Mozartean traits shine through. It is only natural that this programme opens with the exalted stirrings of the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. The figure of Beethoven forms a link between Mozart and Schubert. Composed at the dawn of the 19th century, the Piano Concerto No. 4 models its expressive content on nascent Romanticism while retaining a classical form. The freedom and breadth of the writing mark it from beginning to end. This is immediately evident in the exposition of the main theme by the piano alone at the outset of the first movement, even before the introduction of the orchestra. A major work in the piano repertoire, it is particularly appreciated by pianists and will be performed by Javier Perianes under the direction of the young conductor Aurel Dawidiuk. The programme:
