Naissance du Printemps - Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert: on Thursday 11 March 2027, at Theatre Des Champs Elysees (75008 Paris).

Checked on 26 October 2026.

Overview

"O Mozart, immortal Mozart, how many beneficent presentiments of a bright and better life you have imprinted on our souls!" Schubert confided these grateful words to his diary in June 1816. Three months later, he closed the manuscript of his Fifth Symphony, a sunny and vibrant work in which numerous Mozartian traits shine through. It is only natural that this programme opens with the exhilarated bustle of the overture to The Marriage of Figaro. The figure of Beethoven forms a bridge between Mozart and Schubert. Composed at the dawn of the nineteenth century, the Piano Concerto No. 4 shapes its expressive content in line with the emerging Romanticism while retaining a classical form. The freedom and generosity of the writing mark it from beginning to end. This is evident from the outset in the exposition of the main theme by the piano alone at the opening of the first movement, before the orchestra even enters. A major work of the piano repertoire, it is particularly prized by pianists and will be performed by Javier Perianes under the direction of the young conductor Aurel Dawidiuk.

The programme:

MOZART The Marriage of Figaro, Overture, K.492

BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58

SCHUBERT Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, D. 485

The artists:

Aurel Dawidiuk, conductor
