Overview
Platée Jean-Philippe Rameau Platée de Rameau, or three hours of pure "à la française" entertainment.
Cast Cyrille Dubois | Platée Petr Nekoranec | Thespis / Mercure Guilhem Worms | A satyr / Cithéron Catherine Trottmann | Thalie / La Folie Mathieu Gourlet | Momus / Jupiter Lila Dufy | L'Amour / Clarine Axelle Saint-Cirel | Junon Ensemble Il Caravaggio Camille Delaforge | conductor Chœur de chambre Mélisme(s) | conductor Gildas Pungier In a few words Platée is a singular opera, whose surprising character, both musically and dramatically, has lost none of its splendour since its creation more than 275 years ago for the wedding of the Dauphin and the Infanta of Spain.
The genre's subversions make irony the work's chief weapon. In his hands, Olympus is mocked, mythological grandeur becomes farce, and the intrigues are nothing more than a contest of vanities.
By opting for the traditional structure of a prologue and three acts, close to the grand tragédie lyrique, the eminently noble and serious genre created by Lully, Rameau invents here the genre of the comédie lyrique. Co-production Théâtre des Champs-Élysées | Il Caravaggio
