Cast Lydia Hoen Tjore | soprano Sun Ly Pierce | mezzo-soprano Lunga Eric Hallam | tenor Alex Rosen | bass Les Musiciens du Louvre Marc Minkowski | conductor Chœur Etésias | conductor Romane Belliot and Clément Pottier In a few words Few musical works have left behind a disquiet as profound, one that more than two centuries of legend have only deepened.

The composition of the Requiem is rich in romantic mysteries. It is known that it was commissioned by Count Walsegg, who wanted a Mass for the dead for his late wife.

It is also known that the composer's death interrupted its writing, begun in all likelihood at the start of 1791, and that it was completed by his pupils Eybler and then Süssmayr.

Yet sacred music was always a genre in its own right for Mozart, cultivated with regularity throughout his life. From his very first masses, he shows a command of both instrumental and vocal polyphony, of which the choruses of the Messe en ut are a brilliant example.
