The ancient subject and its libretto indeed encouraged the composer to write stripped-down music, devoid of any artifice. Entirely at the service of his subject, Massenet delivers here a sober and grave score, with passionately arranged accents.

To serve this rare Massenet opus, the Palazzetto Bru Zane team has once again brought together a team of singers particularly invested in this French repertoire from the very beginning of the 20th century.
