A student of Mary Lebenzon, the emblematic professor at the Novosibirsk Conservatory, Roman Borisov gave his first recital in France in 2015 as part of the Piano en Valois festival in Angoulême. He was just 12 years old at the time. Since then, he has come a long way, winning several international awards, notably the Tabor Foundation prize at the Verbier Festival Summer Academy, and has been encouraged to record his first albums. For his first Parisian engagement, he has chosen to perform sonatas by Beethoven and Rachmaninov, impromptus by Schubert, and excerpts from the rare Forgotten Melodies by his compatriot Medtner, which are reminiscent of Scriabin and Rachmaninov, imbued with a certain form of nostalgia.
