San Diego Symphony Orchestra - Rafael Payare

Presented by Le Département des Hauts-de-Seine and its executive producer ERDA, Insula orchestra Le San Diego Symphony makes its French debut with Rafael Payare – and it is a barnstorming entrance. From the enchantment of Stravinski's L'Oiseau de feu to the urban energy of the Danses symphoniques de West Side Story, this dazzling programme also features Kauyumari by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, a Grammy-winning artist. Leonidas Kavakos takes on Chostakovitch's Concerto n°1 to bring out all its dramatic tension. Trained in Venezuela's Sistema, Payare has made his mark on the international stage with his fire and infectious energy. Fanfare sums it up: 'The ferocity he unleashes with his musicians is visceral; it gets you right in the gut.' An exceptional event.
