Tanto Poco. Cécile Garcia Fogel. D'après Marco Lodoli

The immensity of a life of self-sacrifice, sublimated by the grace of an actress.

Thirty years of love and obtuse silence, a crystallisation of affection, the exaltation of an unfulfilled silent passion – Tanto poco, a novel by Marco Lodoli, is the first-person account of an ordinary woman, one of those erased, minuscule lives, yet with a tragic grandeur.

She, a concierge, in the stillness of her life, with the ingrained certainty of an absolute and always unspoken love, without regret, for a man, a literature professor, who will never know anything of the intense desire that animates her.

And this poignant first-person narrative, a sharp writing style that refuses pathos, is spoken and performed with sensitivity and great delicacy by Cécile Garcia Fogel, who determinedly embraces this beautiful and simple character.

The emotional power of theatre sometimes lies in very little, in the essential, in purity; a text, an actress, and nothing more. Tanto poco possesses that kind of power. Denis Sanglard
