Programme
Mozart Paradox Volume II
In a few words
Mozart has been with me since childhood. I heard my mother sing his opera arias and my grandfather conduct his symphonies and his Requiem. On the violin (my first instrument) I worked on sonatas, concertos and duets; on the piano, fantasias, chamber music and concertos, some of which I've had the chance to perform in concert in recent years.
Yet, as a jazz musician, I had never yet drawn on Mozart's work to improvise, as I have done with Bach, Brahms or Schumann. After immersing myself in Mozart's universe and even living for a while in his clothes, I felt the desire to record a completely improvised, thoroughly jazz album, to roam as freely as possible through the themes of the great Wolfgang, drawing on the full diversity of his immense and immortal oeuvre.
In solo piano, when you improvise, every concert is unique and fleeting, and the prospect of presenting this Volume II of Mozart Paradox at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées fills me with joy and emotion.
