Overview
BACH'S CANTATAS WITH THE ENSEMBLE LES ACCENTS CONDUCTED BY THIBAULT NOALLY
The immense body of cantatas brings to light all of Bach's genius in writing, both polyphonic and contrapuntal. The works scored for a single voice, particularly for alto, are dazzling, and recall the dramatic intensity of the pages the composer entrusts to this register in the Passions.
Leading Les Accents from his violin, Thibault Noally offers a fine setting for the pure, full voice of Andreas Scholl. Especially acclaimed in Bach's music, the German countertenor star always interprets it with a bewildering naturalness and sublime inwardness.
A great evening in prospect.
