His charisma, his energy and his pioneering spirit have made him very popular, as he constantly pushes the limits of his instruments: the Galician bagpipe (gaita) and the flutes. Both a prince of Galicia and a king of the Celts, a virtuoso flautist and a prodigious piper, nicknamed "the Jimi Hendrix of the gaita", Carlos Núñez restores the richness of his country's musical identity: flamenco, ancient Galician song and the Andalusian music of the Maghreb, three styles that share a common root. A true musical ambassador and pioneering alchemist, he takes up the mantle of Celtic interculturalism. Mexico, Cuba, Argentina and the Basque Country are woven into the story of the Celts. His collaborations are numerous, notably with The Chieftains, Alan Stivell, and Dan Ar Braz and L'Héritage des Celtes. Carlos Núñez has toured the world with Americans Jackson Browne and Ry Cooder, the Brazilian Milton Nascimento, the Argentine Gustavo Santaolalla, the Japanese Ryuichi Sakamoto, leading figures of early music such as Jordi Savall, and opera singers such as Bryn Terfel. An ambassador of Celtic culture, the most Breton of Galicians has sold more than one million records worldwide and has won awards in several countries. In Spain, he received the Ondas Prize for the best live performance and two Latin Grammy nominations. With "Celtic Sea", he offers a vibrant musical celebration of the rich Celtic cultural heritage, which transcends borders and eras, from Brittany to Galicia by way of Ireland
