Gypsy jazz — Fanou Torracinta, a Corsican virtuoso, makes his mark on the gypsy jazz scene with a sensitive style and unwavering conviction, promising an unforgettable afternoon.

Corsican guitarist Fanou Torracinta has gradually established himself in gypsy jazz through his talent, sensitivity and strong artistic personality. After his beginnings with the Corsican Trio, his collaborations with Tchavolo Schmitt and two albums, he presents his third record, La Belle vie. The album rests on the close musical partnership of his longstanding quartet and blends eight original compositions with five cover versions, notably of Sacha Distel and Django Reinhardt. Influenced by Django without seeking to imitate him, Torracinta favours lyricism, gentleness and emotion, while incorporating the influence of his Corsican roots. A few pieces are accompanied by a string quartet, bringing a delicate chamber-music touch. La Belle vie thus asserts a personal style, elegant and sensitive, at the crossroads of gypsy jazz, swing and Corsican musical traditions.
