New York clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer Hillai Govreen joins Rio de Janeiro-based seven-string guitarist Artur for an intimate exploration of musical connections between jazz and choro.

From a rich family musical tradition, Artur possesses deep knowledge of the traditional repertoire as well as the singular rhythmic language of seven-string guitar.

Hillai, for her part, is influenced by many Brazilian composers and brings her experience of jazz improvisation and contemporary creative music.

Together, they blend lyrical melodies, improvisation, and rhythmic richness of Brazilian music to create a sonic universe both deeply rooted in tradition and open to spontaneous discovery.

Drawing inspiration from Brazilian instrumental music, South American composers, jazz repertoire, and their own arrangements, the duo highlights the affinities and bridges between these different musical worlds.

Through the warm resonances of the seven-string guitar and the expressive voice of clarinet and saxophone, their performance celebrates dialogue, listening, and the power of music to transcend languages, cultures, and geographical boundaries.
