Child of São Luís, in northeastern Brazil, Isaías is a percussionist and composer nourished by the popular traditions of Maranhão.
"Enchantment" is an original musical show by Isaías Alves that articulates Afro-Maranhense and indigenous rhythmic matrices with the contemporary language of Afro-diasporic jazz and post-modal structures.
The work is the result of over twenty years of research on the cultural manifestations of Maranhão, such as bumba meu boi, festivals of the Holy Spirit and Afro-Maranhense practices, transposed into contemporary instrumental language.

He grew up to the rhythm of street drums, processions, celebrations, before taking his sounds to Europe. With him, tradition meets improvisation, jazz is anchored in territory and rhythm becomes language. These #RDVavec... are conceived as a living space.
