Overview
LINE-UP: MARIO CANONGE piano MICHEL ZENINO bass RICARDO IZQUIERDO sax JOSIAH WOODSON trumpet ARNAUD DOLMEN drums It grooves hard with Quint’Up!
Led by Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino, this quintet brings together five exceptional musicians around a jazz rooted in hard bop, Caribbean rhythms and an irresistible urge to share.
Here, everything is in motion: the melodies dance, the improvisations take flight and the grooves settle in without asking permission. Alex Duthil, writing in Open Jazz on France Musique, describes ‘a torrent of energy, of swing, of mastery and of swaying grooves’.
It is hard to sum up the experience any better.
Alongside Canonge and Zenino, you will find Arnaud Dolmen, one of the most distinctive drummers of his generation and a Victoires du Jazz award winner; Josiah Woodson, a trumpeter recognised at the Grammy Awards; and Ricardo Izquierdo, a Cuban saxophonist known for the richness of his playing.
Every two months, they invite an artist or a group to take up the thread. Concert after concert, the music gains in depth, the repertoires reinvent themselves and new perspectives open up. Because some adventures deserve more than a single encounter.
