Joyce Moreno

Born in Rio de Janeiro, four-time Grammy Award nominee, singer, composer, arranger and instrumentalist, JOYCE MORENO has more than 400 recordings of songs she has written in her portfolio, performed by the greatest names in Brazilian popular music: from Elis Regina and Gal Costa to Milton Nascimento, Sergio Mendes, and many more.

Beyond Brazil, Joyce's work has been recorded by Annie Lennox, Wallace Roney, Omara Portuondo, Black Eyed Peas, David Sanchez, Jon Lucien, Claus Ogerman, Gerry Mulligan, Till Brönner and Flora Purim, to name just a few.

In the early 1990s, her music was embraced by DJs around the world, starting in London, and her track Aldeia de Ogum became a huge hit on dance floors worldwide, with numerous remixes.

From the outset of her career, Joyce's trademark has been the female voice in the first person, which she pioneered; she was the first Brazilian singer-songwriter to express herself in this form, paving the way for countless other artists who followed.

Joyce Moreno has received four Latin Grammy nominations (2000, 2004, 2005, 2010), as well as numerous awards, both in Brazil and internationally. To date, she has released 39 personal CDs and two DVDs, in addition to many compilations and guest appearances.

Currently, her work takes her to the four corners of the globe; she tours every year and records new albums in various countries, without ever losing her Brazilian female identity.

Each year, she performs on the Blue Note circuit in Japan and tours jazz festivals and other venues in Europe and North America. JOYCE MORENO QUOTES One of the best singers of all time! As if that were not enough, Joyce is a great composer and plays the guitar remarkably well!
