Julien Libeer et Aurélien Pascal

Julien Libeer piano, Aurélien Pascal cello, Kevin Spagnolo clarinet. Three talented young instrumentalists for their first appearance on Avenue Montaigne. Bach Prelude No. 1 BWV 846, from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Beethoven Sonata No. 3 Op.

69 for cello and piano, Brahms Sonata No. 1 Op. 120 for clarinet and piano, Zemlinsky Trio for clarinet, cello and piano Op. 3.

In a few words: Three instrumentalists whose careers are already dotted with fine honours come together tonight to celebrate some of the finest pages written for solo (Bach), duo (Beethoven and Brahms) and finally trio (Zemlinsky).

Belgian pianist Julien Libeer (the eldest of the three, born in 1987) studied under Maria João Pires, whose advice strongly shaped his musical development.

An accomplished chamber musician, he performs regularly across Europe, as with this complete cycle of sonatas for violin and piano given with Lorenzo Gatto at the Auditorium du Louvre.

Thirty-something cellist Aurélien Pascal was named Instrumental Soloist Revelation at the 2023 Victoires de la Musique. Equally at ease as a soloist and chamber musician, he plays an Adolphe Gand cello from 1850, inherited from his mother.

Finally, Tuscan Kevin Spagnolo was, at 22, the youngest First Prize winner of the Geneva competition in 2018. Passionate about teaching and mentoring, he excels just as much in concert. Production: Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
