He keeps up a string of clysters, enemas and other purgatives to cure his imaginary illnesses, and even plans to marry his daughter to a doctor, because, as he says with honest simplicity: " It's for my own sake that I'm giving her a doctor for a husband! And a good-natured daughter should be delighted to marry someone who is useful to her papa's health. "Each of us knows an Argan. Perhaps we are a little of one ourselves? Let's laugh together at our own foibles!
