LONDON CITY BALLET

The London City Ballet combines the excellence of the classical repertoire with the modernity of contemporary choreography. After three decades away, the London City Ballet has been reborn in brilliant form under the artistic direction of Christopher Marney, and now stands out as a major force on the dance scene.

John Neumeier presents a new version of his 2020 creation, Ghost Light. It offers us a glimpse of the spirits of the artists who once trod our stages. When the curtain falls and the theatre grows dark, a light comes to illuminate the memory of those performers whose steps we follow today.

The dancers will be accompanied for the occasion by pianist Reina Okada.

Originally created for the Royal Danish Ballet, this bold version of The Firebird by the American choreographer Glen Tetley tells the story of a young woman's emancipation as she frees herself from the grip of an authoritarian family: a pioneer who leaves the nest, embraces her difference and leads her peers towards freedom.
