Marion Rampal

Beauty and sensuality run through the album Song for Abbey, which Marion Rampal devoted to the immense Abbey Lincoln. This delicate tribute, paid by one of our most talented jazzwomen to her elder, heralds an exceptional concert, moving and enchanting.

One can easily imagine Abbey Lincoln herself in the audience, touched to hear her music reinterpreted with such sensitivity. This concert offers a precious opportunity to rediscover a major figure in jazz's matrimoine, both an unforgettable performer and composer.

Also an actress, activist and educator, Abbey Lincoln (1930-2010) revealed her talents as a songwriter late in her career through a series of deeply personal albums, which have left a lasting mark on the young Marion Rampal.

Today recognised as one of the great voices of French-speaking jazz, Marion Rampal revisits works from the final period of the American artist's career, when she was at the height of her art (and when she performed on the main stage of T/SQY).

Acclaimed by critics, Song for Abbey celebrates the free and unruly spirit of the woman who inspired it
