Mozart Requiem

The Requiem at its peak. Set under the sign of elevation and emotion, this evening opens with the music of Johann Christoph Bach, one of Johann Sebastian's great-uncles, a composer steeped in spirituality and contemplation. A path that leads almost naturally towards Mozart's Requiem. A legendary work left unfinished, the Requiem crowns this spiritual journey. Composed in the composer's final months, it stands as a deeply moving meditation on death, combining the dramatic power of visions of the Last Judgement with the consoling sweetness of hope. To bring this masterpiece to its highest peak, Laurence Equilbey brings together two exceptional ensembles: accentus, the choir she founded more than thirty years ago and which has established itself as one of the leading choral references in Europe, and the Concentus Musicus Wien, the legendary ensemble founded by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, a world reference for period-instrument performance. A vocal line-up of Mélissa Petit, Agata Schmidt, Michael Schade and Matthias Winckhler completes this exceptional evening. Duration: 1h40 with interval
