A journey from Paris to Istanbul. Like a taut thread running across Europe from west to east, the Orient-Express once linked Paris with Istanbul. The launch of new trains in 2027 invites audiences to relive this legendary route on musical rails.

The journey begins on the banks of the Seine, with Ravel; in 1932, the composer travelled on the Orient-Express in the company of Marguerite Long, the dedicatee of the delicate Tombeau de Couperin. The train then glides towards Munich, where Mozart's Quartet with oboe was first performed, then crosses Vienna and Bucharest before reaching the Bosphorus… Here opens the dreamed-of Orient, the final stage of the journey.

Sang de printemps, the new work by the Iranian composer Farnaz Modarresifar, weaves links between Western art music and Persian classical music. Inspired by the freedoms that travel offers, as much as by what in her remains marked by what her country of origin is experiencing, she proposes a contemporary vision of the bond between East and West, between dream, memory and reality.
