Accordionist and composer, Sébastien Farge brings together his quartet and the Limoges-Nouvelle-Aquitaine Symphony Orchestra for an orchestral version of Origines (2022), conducted by Chloé Meyzie.

Advisor to Maugein, France's last accordion factory based in Tulle, Sébastien Farge maintains a deep connection to instrument making as well as musical writing.

For his album Origines, released on the Laborie Jazz label in 2022, Sébastien Farge gathered what he held deepest within himself to offer, and give the accordion new titles to conquer, affirming the beauty of this instrument and its sonic universe.

An approach nourished by decisive encounters, notably with Sylvain Luc, Bernard Cavanna and Roland Romanelli. Rewritten the following year for the Limoges-Nouvelle-Aquitaine Symphony Orchestra, Origines unfolds in XXL version with Origines Symphonic.

Under the direction of conductor Chloé Meyzie, joined by Sébastien Farge's Quartet, the forty musicians compose a sonic architecture where the accordion plays both the role of soloist and voice among voices, illuminating the timbre richness and mechanical complexity of an instrument too often confined to its popular uses.
