Welcomed last season with Les Ailes du désir, Othman Louati returns with the ensemble Miroirs Étendus for an adaptation of Stanislas Lem's novel Solaris. Together with Jacques Perconte, a figure of video art in Europe, he composes an immersive opera in which music, image and science fiction take us to the frontiers of the real.
Adapted from Stanislas Lem's masterpiece, Solaris explores the mysteries of a planet orbited by two suns and covered by an ocean that seems endowed with a form of intelligence defying all human understanding. With this major work of science fiction, Othman Louati and Jacques Perconte question our way of inhabiting the world, our relationship to knowledge, to technology, and to love and spirituality.
Like a radiant wave of celestial light, this opera-video sets in motion human voices, instrumental forces, analogue synthesisers, filmed natural landscapes, texts on stage, closed-circuit video, mathematics in motion, cinematic sequences and silences to build the different levels of reality of the narrative. Between cosmic fascination and existential reflection, Solaris invites us to move beyond the illusions of mastery and the logics of conquest, and to rediscover a form of humility in the face of the unknown.
