Overview

"Also, to this question posed six thousand years ago by Ecclesiastes: 'Who has ever been able to fathom the depths of the abyss?', two men above all men now have the right to answer.

', two men above all men now have the right to answer.

" Jules VerneAt the genesis of this artistic project carried by the Belgian collective FC Bergman, which brings together Stef Aerts, Joé Agemans and Marie Vinck, a score: Drumming, the longest work ever written by American Steve Reich.

In 1970, returning from a trip to Ghana where he studied African percussion, he composes, for a year, this unprecedented piece created at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, on September 3, 1971.

Based on a single rhythmic motif, Drumming can give the appearance of repetitive and possibly static music.

Yet the composer employs the phasing technique he then mastered to perfection and the work changes, constantly, thereby creating a different relationship to time for the listener.

Often cited to illustrate the current of minimalist music, Drumming mobilizes both percussion and voice, as well as silence. FC Bergman draws from this approach, both musical and transcendental, the source of its inspiration.

As the idea of Nemo Point emerges on the horizon of this new creation, the project of an abstract response to abstract music blooms.

Indeed, what better for the FC Bergman collective, whose work is centered around the "vast world" and man's quest for landmarks in a space-time where everyone seeks their place, than Nemo Point, the place farthest from any inhabited land?

Except that here, Nemo Point is not apprehended in the literal sense, but rather in the figurative sense, like a cemetery of hope, where any attempt to control existence would be futile.

Adapted, shaped and dictated by music, the scenic installation gradually becomes the main character of this show. Conceived as a performance and devoid of text, Point Nemo is a wand
