Raul Midon

One man, one voice, one guitar, and it is as though an entire orchestra has taken over the stage.

A virtuoso classical and flamenco guitarist capable of morphing his instrument into a kora or a bongo, the New Yorker dares to do it all, singing of love with a heart-breaking timbre or imitating the sound of a trumpet during masterful vocal improvisations. ).

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and guitarist Raul Midón has built a career that defies musical classification, blending soul, jazz, Latin rhythms and acoustic virtuosity to create a sound entirely his own.

Blind from birth, Midón is often described as a one-man band, transforming his guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a choir, as The New York Times points out.

His artistry has earned him praise from major music figures, notably Quincy Jones, who states that his music makes you smile, Elton John, who described State of Mind as a soul classic, as well as Bill Withers, who championed and supported his music.

Raul Midón first won over an international audience with his breakthrough album State of Mind, produced by the legendary Arif Mardin. Now celebrated on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, this album remains an essential benchmark in modern soul and jazz.

Over the years, he has collaborated with a remarkable diversity of artists, from Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Marcus Miller to Snoop Dogg and Roberta Flack.

He has performed with orchestras, taken part in jazz festivals the world over and even appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show to showcase new compositions. A true eclectic adventurer, according to People, Midón continues to push the boundaries of musical creation.
