If the Paris Chamber Orchestra is somewhat like home at the Théâtre du Châtelet, who would expect a conductor specializing in French baroque opera to be accompanied by his choir singing melodies orchestrated by Bourvil, Charles Trenet, or Maurice Chevalier?

Yet these artists feature prominently in this program, as does the successful operetta composer Francis Lopez who, in addition to being the author of La Belle de Cadix and Le Chanteur de Mexico, directed the Théâtre du Châtelet in the early seventies.

It was around this same period that Hervé Niquet discovers the Paris of arts and the musical life of the capital, glimpsed through the famous television programs by Maritie and Gilbert Carpentier.

Hervé Niquet becomes friends with Madeleine Milhaud, musicologist, who makes him promise to perform a work that her husband, Darius, who described himself with relish and not without malice as "Frenchman from Provence and of Jewish faith*" had composed for the Lemon Festival, in Menton.

Barba Garibo, entertainment based on themes from Menton folklore for mixed choir and orchestra, whose texts were composed by Armand Lunel, is indeed one of the jewels of this concert placed under the sign of celebration!
