A society of freeloaders, ruined or on the verge of ruin, finds itself at Lucette’s, a singer by profession, the reigning queen of the moment, adored by the Parisian press and public. She generously provides food and money, but woe betide anyone who tries to leave her small circle where she reigns as a despot… Fernand de Bois d’Enghien will bear the brunt of this perfect little tyrant! Indeed, Lucette’s lover, he cannot break up with her, and yet that very evening he signs his marriage contract with the very wealthy Viviane, daughter of Baroness Duverger. What was bound to happen, happened: Lucette, who is hired by the Baroness to crown the small party given for the signing of the marriage contract, comes face to face with Fernand.
