Prince Hamlet, his friend Horatio, Ophelia, her brother Laertes. What more do these Shakespearean characters have to tell us, four hundred years later? Here, they are no longer figures from the past but become four young people of today, nervous, funny, and disarmingly lucid.
Perched on a staircase, phones in hand, they talk about power, violence, corruption, and desire, with humour as a survival weapon.
By rubbing Shakespeare against contemporary fractures, Nathalie Garraud and Olivier Saccomano bring forth a lively, disenchanted but untamed voice, where tragedy becomes a critical and joyfully insolent playground.
