Anvil

Anvil is a Canadian heavy metal band from Toronto, Ontario. It is also considered one of the bands that played a more or less important role in the development of speed metal. The song Bedroom Game, from the album Hard 'n' Heavy, released in 1981, is considered one of the first speed metal songs in the world. In 1982, Metal on Metal directly referenced metal, redundantly with the band's own name. Each album cover features an anvil painted by Robb Reiner, the drummer. Steve Kudlow has played his entire career on a Gibson Flying V.

Their biggest hits include: Metal on Metal, March of the Crab (instrumental), Forged in Fire, and Juggernaut of Justice. The band began to lose its success from 1983 onwards, when Metallica arrived with thrash metal.

The singer's nickname (Lips) comes from his incredible facial gestures. The singer also became known for using a vibrator to play the guitar. Anvil means "Enclume" in French. The documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil recounts the band's misfortunes in a succession of woes and situations where adversity repeatedly triumphs. A patchy career that nevertheless never stopped and influenced many other bands.
