Beth Orton

Elizabeth Caroline Orton, better known as Beth Orton, is a British singer-songwriter. Born on December 14, 1970, she is known for her "folktronica" music, a blend of folk and electronica elements.

Her collaboration with William Orbit and the Chemical Brothers brought her to prominence in the mid-1990s, although she had already recorded a few tracks beforehand. Her first solo album SuperPinkyMandy was released in 1993 exclusively in Japan. Her second solo album Trailer Park thrilled critics upon its release in 1996. However, it was with the albums Central Reservation (1999) and Daybreaker (which charted in the UK top 10 in 2001) that her fan base truly expanded. The 2006 album Comfort of Strangers marked an even sharper turn toward folk, with Orton leaving behind the electronic sounds of her previous albums. Her songs can be heard in numerous American films and TV shows, such as Felicity, How to Deal, and Vanilla Sky. Thanks to this, the popularity that Beth Orton gained in the UK over the years began to spread to the United States.
