William Emanuel Cobham Jr., known as Billy, born May 16, 1944 in Panama, is a Panamanian jazz drummer and composer. Famous for his fusion jazz in the 1970s with Mahavishnu Orchestra, he developed a drumming style influenced by rock and funk. Billy Cobham has played with jazz musicians such as Horace Silver and Joe Henderson, so his roots are in jazz rather than rock.
