About — The artist
Caballero, whose full name is Caballero Mañas, born on 22 November 1988 in Barcelona (Spain), is a Spanish rapper and singer who performs in French and belongs to the Belgian francophone scene. He lives in Brussels and is a member of the group Les Corbeaux, the Black Syndicat collective and the duo Caballero et JeanJass, formed with his friend JeanJass, a Belgian rapper. He is also known for belonging to the new wave of Belgian rap of the 2010s, alongside artists such as Hamza, Damso, Roméo Elvis or Shay. On the French side, he is affiliated with the Parisian label Don Dada.
Active since 2007, he is the author of three solo projects, Laisse-moi faire (2011), Laisse nous faire vol.1 (2013) and Pont de la reine (2014), as well as many other group projects. With Lomepal and Hologram Lo’, he released Le Singe fume sa cigarette in 2013. With the duo Fixpen Sill, Lomepal, and the producer Meyso, he released the EP Fixpen Singe in 2014. Teaming up with JeanJass, he then released Double Hélice in 2016, Double Hélice 2 in 2017, and Double Hélice 3 in 2018. The mixtape High & Fines Herbes, inspired by their show of the same name, came out in 2020. In 2021, a double solo album entitled Oso / Hat trick came out, containing 19 tracks by Caballero and 18 by Jean Jass respectively. It was announced by the release of several solo singles on their YouTube channel and is marked by the absence of collaborations between the two artists on the project. At the end of 2021, he released an EP with his friend JeanJass: Zushi Boyz, in very limited copies available only on vinyl. This EP aims to revive the rap style of their beginnings, notably through features with Le Seize or Benjamin Epps.
