About — The artist

Béatrice Martin, known as Cœur de pirate (sometimes abbreviated CDP), born on September 22, 1989, in Outremont, is a Canadian singer, pianist, and lyricist from Quebec.

Her first album, Cœur de pirate, was released in Quebec in 2008 and in France in 2009, followed in 2011 by her second album, titled Blonde. In 2013, she recorded the original music for the fifth season of the Quebec dramatic series Trauma. The soundtrack album, bearing the same name, was released the following year. The same year, she also composed the soundtrack for the video game Child of Light. In 2015, she launched her third album, Roses, which ranked No. 5 in sales in France during the first week after its release. In 2018, her fourth album, En cas de tempête, ce jardin sera fermé, also marked the tenth anniversary of her career. In 2021, she released an instrumental album, Perséides, which was followed, in the same year, by her sixth studio album, Impossible à aimer.

She is recognized for her musical style, and particularly for her lyrics describing the ups and downs of romantic relationships.

Her unique singing voice and multiple tattoos are some of her characteristic traits most associated with her artistic personality.

She is recognized by the cultural weekly Montreal Mirror as the francophone singer of a whole new generation of young Quebecers.

She was also part of the group Armistice with singer Jay Malinowski, whose eponymous first EP was released in 2011.
