Eivør Pálsdóttir [ˈaivœɹ ˈpɔlsˌdœʰtːɪɹ], or simply Eivør, born on 21 July 1983 in Syðrugøta (Faroe Islands), is a Faroese singer, songwriter, and musician.
Eivør is sometimes nicknamed the “Björk of the Faroes”, more due to the geographical and cultural proximity of these islands to Iceland and her artistic level than to her style itself. A precocious talent, her clear soprano voice excels in jazz, folk, rock, pop, and country repertoires, as well as in classical and sacred music.
She finds her inspiration in traditional Faroese ballads and sings primarily in her native language, Faroese, but also in English, Danish, Swedish, and Icelandic.
