About — The artist

Foreigner is a British-American hard rock band, originally from New York. It was formed in 1976 by two renowned British musicians, Mick Jones, formerly guitarist for Spooky Tooth, and Ian McDonald, a multi-instrumentalist who had played with King Crimson and McDonald and Giles, as well as a then-unknown American singer, Lou Gramm. By 2014, the band had sold over 80 million albums worldwide (including 37.5 million in the United States), making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. Their biggest hits include Waiting for a Girl Like You, Hot Blooded, Juke Box Hero, Urgent, Break It Up, and also I Want to Know What Love Is, released in late 1984, and I Don't Want to Live Without You. The band's name (meaning 'Stranger' in French) comes from the fact that three of its members were British – Mick Jones, Ian McDonald, and drummer Dennis Elliott – while the other three – keyboardist Al Greenwood, bassist Ed Gagliardi, and singer Lou Gramm – were American.

In 2008, after 14 years of studio inactivity, Foreigner returned with a compilation (No End in Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner) and a new track (Too Late). As the compilation's title suggested ('No End in Sight'), a new album, Can't Slow Down, was released on 29 September 2009.

According to the band's official website, Foreigner was joined on stage by original members Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, Ian McDonald, and bassist Rick Wills for their 40th-anniversary tour. This reunion took place on 6 and 7 October 2017 at the Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Michigan, USA, as well as during other concerts on the tour.
