About — The artist
Jack Hody Johnson, born on 18 May 1975, is an American singer-songwriter. He performs in a variety of styles, including pop, rock, acoustic, folk and surf rock.
His music has earned him several places on the Billboard 200 chart, including the number one spot with the albums Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George in 2006, Sleep Through the Static in 2008, To the Sea in 2010 and From Here to Now to You in 2013. The album In Between Dreams reached second place on the chart in 2005, and again in 2013. His studio album All the Light Above It Too, released in 2017, debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, his seventh entry in the top five.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Johnson is committed to the environment and sustainability, often in connection with the world's oceans. With his wife Kim, he founded the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation and the Kōkua Hawaii Foundation. In 2008, he embraced the concept of greening (reducing and reusing) and donated 100% of the proceeds from the Sleep Through the Static tour to the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation. Likewise, the proceeds from the To the Sea tour in 2010 went to All at Once, a collaboration of greening organisations supported by Johnson, which encourages fan involvement.
