About — The artist
Julie Pietri, real name Nicole Pietri, born on 1 May 1955 in Douera, on the outskirts of Algiers (repatriated from Algeria in 1962), is a French singer and actress, a member of the Bande à Basile in the 1970s and the author of several hits, notably Ève lève-toi, No. 1 on the Top 50 in November 1986.
Julie Pietri's career saw hits both before and after Ève lève-toi: Magdalena, Je veux croire, Et c'est comme si, Amoureux fous (a duet with Herbert Léonard), Nouvelle vie, Canto di Sorenza, Si on parlait de ma vie, and others.
Regarded as an "icon of the 1980s", Julie Pietri kept a lower profile through the 1990s, notably devoting herself to raising her daughter, before enjoying a resurgence in popularity from the 2000s onward. In the 2010s, she took part in the Âge tendre et Têtes de bois and Stars 80 tours.
