Khatia Buniatishvili or Buniatichvili (in Georgian: ხატია ბუნიათიშვილი, /xɑtˈiɑ buniɑtʰiʃvili/, Khatia Bouniatichvili), born on 21 June 1987 in Batumi (Georgian SSR), is a Georgian pianist, naturalised French in 2017.
In 2008, she won third prize at the Rubinstein Competition, thereby gaining recognition in the classical music world.
In 2012, her album dedicated to Liszt earned her an ECHO Klassik award in the “Young Artist of the Year” category.
In 2014, she was revealed to the general public when she provided the musical illustration for the televised gala Art on Ice in Stockholm. Very popular ever since, she has been described by the press as a “pop star” or “rock star of classical music”. She will perform for the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris in 2024.
